Polignano, pearl of Adriatic

If you love the sea, you will also love Polignano "Pearl of the Adriatic", a tourist and seaside resort characterized by a crystal clear sea and rocks that the force of the tides has dug to create really beautiful inlets and caves.

Polignano also fascinates for its historic center full of Arab, Byzantine, Spanish and Norman traces, such as the remains of the four defense towers that surrounded the ancient part of the town.

Once you enter the ancient village, beautiful to walk on during romantic walks, you can admire rocks overlooking the sea, alleys and enjoy, from the famous "loggias", suggestive views of the sea.

From the Arco della Porta, once the only access road to the town, you enter the magical village, embellished by the thirteenth-century Matrix Church dedicated to the Assumption. A visit to the "Pino Pascali" Museum Foundation, set up in the former Municipal Slaughterhouse, dedicated to the work of the great Apulian sculptor and artist, cannot be missed.

The profile of the coast, the high cliffs and the jagged coast make Polignano one of the most beautiful coasts of Puglia. Awarded several times with the recognition of the Blue Flag, it is full of caves, hidden coves and delightful coves.

Cala Paura

At the gates of Polignano a Mare, Cala Paura is made up of two inlets and a dock for small traditional boats. You can walk on the smooth pebbles, lie on the pier or dive from the cliff into the transparent waters from which you can see the rocky bottom.
You can opt for the free beach or relax in the lido which offers deckchairs, umbrellas and pedal boats with which to take a ride offshore. To give a picturesque touch to the scenery are the small colorful boats of the fishermen.

Cala Porto

Wedged between two high rocky walls, the enchanting free beach of Lama Monachile, also called Cala Porto, sports the Blue Flag and 4 Legambiente sails.
A few steps from the historic center of Polignano a Mare, the most famous and photographed scenery of the Bari coast unfolds. The crystal clear water caresses the white and smooth pebbles of the cove while a dream setting unfolds all around: the sea caves, the high and jagged cliff and the houses of the ancient village overlooking the sea.
The beach takes its name from the Roman bridge, still viable, which crosses Lama Monachile and meets the route of the ancient Via Traiana which offers postcard views.

Grotta Palazzese

A real natural spectacle, a stone ceiling that frames one of the most suggestive corners of Polignano a Mare, Grotta Palazzese is a cave carved into the limestone rock by marine erosion. Fascinating landing point, the cave is accessible from the sea by boat and also by land, through a narrow staircase carved into the rock, which today leads to one of the most exclusive restaurants in the city. Inside, there is a large semicircular room with a diameter of about thirty meters and a smaller room, characterized by a pebbly beach.
