Rodi Garganico

Rodi Garganico is a village located in the northern part of the Gargano, just before Vieste and Peschici, on a small promontory on the sides of which there are, on one side, rocks and deep sea, on the other a beach that unites Rhodes in San Menaio. In the hinterland of Rhodes there is a pine forest, the scent of which reaches the sea.

The narrow and shady streets denounce its Greek origins and preserve its medieval atmosphere through the stone portals and noble manor houses with finely decorated cornices.
The small openings and squares are furnished as a lounge for tourists. Typical, then, the houses close together, with the characteristic red tiles.

The medieval historic center has the typical Gargano structure, with intricate paths, steep stairways, narrow alleys and terraces overlooking the sea. Of particular importance are the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Libera, in Baroque style, where for centuries the painting of the Madonna della Libera and the Church of San Nicola di Mira with the bell tower in Byzantine Greek art have been venerated.

The Church of San Nicola di Mira is also the mother church, and its bell tower, originally born as a watchtower, to which later added an octagonal drum and an oriental dome, which culminates in a cusp, served as a clock community: the bells were used to call people back to the fields reminding them of lunch and dinner.

Do not miss the beautiful Aragonese Castle overlooking the town. The area under the castle with its belvedere from which you can admire an enchanting view of the beach and the surrounding vegetation, perfect place for a romantic sunset

This enchanting village, in recent decades has specialized its economy in summer tourism,  equipping its many golden beaches, short gravelly stretches, green coves, overhangs on the sea. In fact, thanks to its mild climate, its geographical position, the crystal clear sea and its fishy seabed, Rodi Garganico has become a very popular holiday resort where you can spend holidays in tranquility and serenity. With its 8 km of beach and a historic center that drop sheer onto the sea, it is the ideal destination for families who want to experience a holiday with the typical taste of the Apulian sea.

The beaches not to be missed are certainly the Levante beach, sheltered from the mistral winds thanks to the port, the San Menaio beach surrounded by citrus trees, and the Ponente beach that rises to the west of the city. Among the things to see in Rodi Garganico there are the small stacks that make the coast even more splendid. Here there were ancient trabucchi, structures still visible today, once used for fishing.

Lido del Sole is the modern heart of Rhodes, a center of great tourist attraction, which in recent years has become one of the most popular seaside destinations in the Gargano.
The Lido del Sole beach is characterized by fine and golden sand and stretches for about 1 kilometer, with the blue clear and clean crystalline sea, its coast where a natural landscape prevails, make the atmosphere unique.

In addition to the beauty of its coasts, the small town is also known for the production of citrus fruits, (Gargano oranges and Limoni Femminello, both DOP).

Definitely worth visiting is also the beautiful newly built marina.
